Sermon Notes

Jude 1:17
But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

  • The Sovereignty of God over salvation VS. Man’s responsibility to: “Repent” and “believe” and “be saved from this perverse generation.” To “Remember the words spoken beforehand…” “That there will be mockers” to “build ourselves up…” to “Keep ourselves in the love of God” “Abide in My Love” “Love one another”
  • Galatians 6:7-8
…Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
  • Psalm 103:19
…The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all…
  • Psalm 119:89-91
…Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations; You established the earth, and it stands. They stand this day according to your ordinances, For all things are Your servants.
  • Job 42:1-2
…Then Job answered the LORD and said, “I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.”
  • John 6:35-37
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet you do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”
  • John 10:25—30
…”But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.I and the Father are one.”
  • John 15
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser…You are already clean by the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me and I in you…I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in Him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you, abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in my love…This is My commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for His friends…You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you…
  • Ephesians 1:4-14
…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself…to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us…In Him, you also after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed In Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
  • Ephesians 2:8-10 Justified by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, according to
Scripture alone, to God alone be the Glory.
